The blades are thinner than other saw blades. Shogun Daiku - Master Craft saws are specially hardened and chrome-plated. Chrome plating prevents rusting and makes the blade harder for even better cutting performance.

Ryoba saw - double-sided saw. One blade for cutting across and the other for cutting along the grain of the wood.

As with all Japanese saws, also here the cut is made only when the saw is pulled towards you. As a result, Japanese saws have blades that are thinner, lighter and smoother, resulting in faster cuts.
