Titebond II Dark Wood - dark wood glue - 473ml

Titebond II Dark Wood is a single-component, cross-linking PVAc-based dispersion glue. Recommended for cold or hot gluing, in presses as well as for finger joints. Titebond II can be used for exterior and interior projects. It meets the requirements of the European DIN EN 204 standard for water resistance - D3.

Advantages:

  • high speed of bonding and excellent joint strength
  • excellent for exterior and interior carpentry projects
  • D3 class water resistance
  • open time: 3-5 min and short clamping time 10-15 min (20oC)
  • easy spreading
  • non-toxic
  • easy water cleanup

Application:

Titebond Dark helps every carpenter achieve professional, aesthetic results (especially with darker wood species). It is ideal for:

  • wood,
  • hardboard,
  • particle board,
  • leather,
  • fabrics
  • and most other porous materials.

Volume: 473ml

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS:

Material moisture: The moisture content of the glued material should be 6-10%. Too high moisture causes a significant extension of the glue bonding time.

Preparation of material for gluing: The material should be prepared for gluing and glued on the same day. Maintain appropriate evenness of the glued surfaces. Surfaces should be free from dirt and wood dust.

In order to achieve an even pressure distribution during gluing, the difference in thickness of the glued material cannot exceed ± 0.15 mm. Maximum deflection of the glued material: 1.5 mm.

Application: Unit application is generally 150 g/m2. In the case of porous materials or uneven surfaces, the above values may increase.

Open time: 3-5 min. The open time depends on the amount of glue applied, porosity of the glued material, wood moisture, gluing temperature, and others.

Clamping pressure: Clamping pressure depends mainly on the species of glued wood. Suggested values are: for softwoods: 7.0-10.5 Kg/cm2; medium hardwoods: 8.8-12.3 Kg/cm2; hardwoods: 12.3-17.6 Kg/cm2.

Clamping time: 10-15 min (at 20oC). The clamping time depends on the wood species, wood moisture, and gluing temperature.

Post-gluing activities: After removing the element from the press, the joint reaches an initial strength that allows for handling operations. Mechanical processing is recommended on the second day after gluing, to avoid changes in the dimensions of the glued material caused by the action of residual moisture left in the glue line.

Application method: Plastic bottles for precise applications; the glue can also be applied with a roller or a brush.

Cleanup: Use a damp cloth to wipe off wet glue. Dried excess glue should be scraped off and sanded.

Limitations: Titebond II Dark Wood Glue is not intended for continuous submersion in water or for use below the waterline. It is not suitable for structural and heavy-load-bearing applications. Do not use when the temperature drops below 13ºC. Due to the low pH, the product may cause corrosion of metal elements – testing is recommended. Safe contact with food has not been approved by the FDA. Keep from freezing (freezing may cause the glue to thicken, although remixing should restore it to its original form). Technical consultation is recommended before gluing exotic and oily wood. Surface affinity tests are required in the case of impregnated wood.
