Wood inlay kit - router bit + 2x guide bushings + 3x bowtie templates

A complete set for routing your own decorative bowtie inserts in wood. It consists of a ready-made set of guide bushings and a matching router bit. An additional advantage is the set of bowtie templates.

"Inlays" are a great way to diversify your project's style, conceal minor surface flaws, and even reinforce solid-wood tabletops to prevent them from splitting apart.

They are perfect for, among other things:

• when making solid-wood tabletops, which can crack and separate as they move with changing humidity. Bowties stitch the top and prevent larger gaps from forming;
• repairing and concealing wood discoloration, knot holes, nail holes, etc.;
• decoration and adding a distinctive design.

The set lets you make bowties using the included templates, and also create your own inlay patterns (we encourage you to make your own unique templates).

How does it work?

• Install the smaller-diameter guide bushing and the 3.2 mm router bit (both included) in your router.
• Using a template from the set (or your own), cut the insert.
• Swap to the larger bushing in the router and, using the same template, rout the recess in the wood for the insert.
• Place the insert with a dab of glue into the routed recess, then sand flush.

If your router does not have a baseplate for 30 mm guide bushings, we recommend the OmniBase universal base (SKU: 6252)

NOTE: The bit has an 8 mm shank. Make sure your router accepts 8 mm bits.

• smaller bushing for cutting the insert
• larger bushing for routing the recess for the insert
• mounting ring for the bushings
• 3.2 mm router bit, 8 mm shank
• 3x bowtie template (dimensions: 153x153x9 mm) with 7 sizes (from 43x24 mm to 120x87 mm)
