Woodworking Saw Made in Japan by Shogun – A Manufacturer of Professional Hand Saws

The Dozuki saw is the Japanese equivalent of the European backsaw.

This is a classic Japanese Dozuki model with a full steel back for greater rigidity and precision. The fine teeth and thin blade create an exceptionally narrow kerf (only 0.38mm!), making it ideal for tasks requiring accuracy and straight, precise cuts.

The steel back provides excellent stability during cutting, reducing the risk of blade bending or breaking, but it also limits cutting depth. This Dozuki model allows for relatively deep cuts, up to 60mm. It is particularly recommended for joints, tenons, dovetail connections, and precise incisions.

Impulse-hardened teeth ensure three times the lifespan and sharpness compared to traditional saws. The blade features fine teeth and is replaceable.

Specifications:

  • Blade length: 240mm
  • Blade thickness: 0.3mm
  • Kerf width: 0.45mm
  • Tooth spacing: 1.00mm
  • Number of teeth: 20 per inch (20TPI)
  • Working blade height: 50-60mm
  • Total saw length: 590mm

Features:

  • Blade for precision cutting
  • Fine teeth
  • Fully reinforced steel back
  • Straight wooden handle wrapped in natural rattan (note: natural rattan may have discolorations and minor imperfections)
  • Impulse-hardened teeth
  • Replaceable blade

 Impulse-Hardened Teeth:
Shogun saws with impulse-hardened teeth (hardness of approximately Hv900-950) provide significantly longer lifespans than traditional saw teeth. Impulse-hardened teeth retain their sharp cutting edges three times longer than traditional saw teeth.

As with all Japanese saws, cutting occurs only on the pull stroke. This design allows Japanese saws to feature thinner, lighter, and smoother blades, resulting in faster and more efficient cuts.

Note: Handles made of natural rattan may have discolorations and minor imperfections, which are natural characteristics of the material and do not affect the saw's functionality.
