Cam joints
What are cam joints?
A cam joint in furniture is a technique for joining furniture components, where the dowels and sockets used in traditional dowel joints are replaced by special cam connectors.
These connectors consist of two parts: a threaded sleeve with a catch, screwed into one furniture part, and a cam, embedded in the other part. When assembling the furniture, the cam grips the catch, and tightening it pulls both parts together. The joint is reinforced by dowels placed on both sides of the catch.
Cam joints are commonly used in furniture such as beds, tables, and chairs because they provide a strong, durable, and stable connection between furniture parts while allowing easy disassembly for repairs or transport.
